Sletter islands

Kiting at Sletter Islands:

The Sletter Islands is a collection of flat grassy Islands in Kurefjorden, and is actually a nature reserve. At Elderøya, Lille Sletter and Søndre Sletter the vegetation is conserved. The Cowbell plant is protected, and is not allowed picking and some smaller areas are protected in the nesting season. The Islands are open to the public, and allows for a great nature experience. Store Sletter where we hold our kitekurs is a popular venue to the local public on days with no wind, and in the windy season it is mostly kiters staying there.

Sheep's from Tomb agricultural college spend the summer on the island keeping the vegetation low, with their cow friends from Ås agriculture college.

The island is the perfect spot for practicing with the kites on land due to its flat and grassy terrain. The wind in the area also allows for great kiting experiences. The wind conditions make it a popular spot for the local kiters, in addition to Engholmen and Danmark-stranda. The Islands can only be reached by boat.
